About HDLB

What's in a name?

HDLB stand for Hors De La Boite, a literal translation of "out of the box". The idea is that HDLB offers out of the box advice and hands-on action in the field of cross-border business and marketing. "Boîte" also happens to be French slang for company: companies shouldn't only think out of the box, but also act out of the box by looking across borders to new markets.

I was born in the Nethands but raised in a tiny country called Luxembourg. There, I attented the European School. Languages and cultural adaptation are essential survival skills when growing up in such an international environment. Therefore a talent for languages and multi-lingual communication was quickly developed, focussing on French, German, English and Spanish. Graduating with a European Baccalauréat in 2001, I went on to study European and International law at Maastricht University where I graduated in 2006. After this it was time to widen my horizon, this time outside of Europe: in beautiful Sydney, Australia. I spent a year doing a second MA in International relations at the University of New South Wales. After graduation I discovered the impressive Australian continent and other parts of the world. During my Masters degree in Sydney I gained thorough knowledge and fascination for international relations in both politics and business. Upon returning to Europe, I was hired by a large British Public Affairs consultancy to work in Brussels, the European political capital . Since a young age I've had entrepreneurial ambitions and decided to combine my language talents and international experience with my commercial ambitions. In HDLB this all comes together.
